Clover Sites 3
Hey everyone -
We hope you had a great Christmas and New Year’s! Now that we’re all back at our desks after the festivities, we figured it would be a great time for an update about the HTML5 version of Clover Sites – which we’re officially dubbing “Clover Sites 3“.
We realize that some of you are waiting excitedly for this new version, while others of you are worried that your website might change unexpectedly, and we probably haven’t done a great job explaining what to expect. So the first thing we want to do is give you the big picture of what we’re creating.
Clover Sites 3 is a complete redesign from the ground up of everything we’ve already made. The web has changed a lot in the 5 years since we first started working on Clover, and we care deeply about being on the forefront of our field. We’re making new site designs, with new features, a beautiful mobile and tablet experience, and a more powerful editor. (All while still trying to keep things as simple and easy to use as possible!)
We’ll launch the new version as essentially a whole new product, but it will be a free upgrade for all our current customers. And if for some reason you don’t want to upgrade, you won’t have to. You’ll be able to stay with your current site on the existing Clover platform if you’d like, or move over whenever you’re ready.
Because we’re creating everything from the ground up, it allows us to build in a lot of features that many of you have been asking for. We’ll be posting more details in a series of upcoming blog posts, but here are some of the new things we’ll be offering:
- New site designs
- Multiple sections on each page
- Ability to change fonts
- Much more control over colors
- Mobile responsive designs (changing size for iPhone, iPad, etc)
- Easy vs Advanced editing (like with Clover Donations)
- Ability to add hidden pages
- Multiple users with different permissions in the Greenhouse
- Brand new media player
- New slideshow/advertising section
- New portfolio/gallery section
- A more sophisticated text editor
- Ability to put photos and buttons into a text section
- Ability to embed custom HTML
- Control over your CSS (for designers and developers)
As with everything we’ve announced before, we’re so excited about this new version! And also as usual, we have to ask for your patience as we create it. We’ve been working on it for months, but we’ve still got quite a ways to go. If we could give a realistic time frame, we would, but as we’ve learned from our previous projects, the things that feel like the last little details often take much longer than we can anticipate. So in lieu of giving a launch date, we’ll try to be open and communicative as we go along, so you can see the work in progress.
As a first teaser, here are some screenshots of a couple new site designs, and a few pieces of the new Greenhouse:

Love it! Looking forward to making the switch! You guys always do a great job and are so meticulous in making sure everything works before launching. We appreciate that!
Looks AWESOME…thanks for the update. We are waiting for launch with much anticipation!
We use Clover Sites for our church – I just had a major geek out moment when I saw this! I am excited for the ability to edit the HTML and CSS on this stuff! Can’t wait!
CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!
Aaaaaahhhh!!!! I can’t wait! Thanks for the great surprise on a day otherwise filled with sickness at home for me. I’m really looking forward to this.
Looks great! We are really looking forward to this upgrade. Since it’s not flash, is it safe to assume the Greenhouse will be iPad friendly? Would be nice to be able to make simple edits from an iPad.
Love the new looks and options. You guys are amazing! Patiently waiting for all the goodies. God Bless from the Mountain State!
Super excited about this!
Do you guys ever see yourself designing an app for mobile to go along with our clover site?
Although we’re already Clover customers, I hadn’t read any updates about the changeover. But this is a really exciting update to read! Also, love the samples of your new designs. Well done!
Seriously tasty. Please have this finished in 2-3 weeks.
LOOKS GREAT! Can’t Wait!
So excited for this. It look great and I am pumped about a few of the upgrades like hidden pages. YES!
You guys are awesome. So glad to hear about the updates.
Giddy excited about this one Clover!! By far the most excited I’ve been about one of your updates
Wow guys!
Looks great. Can’t wait
@Michael – So great to hear that this brightened your day! Hope you feel better really soon!
Really looking forward to this. Way too long in coming – keep on it!
Thanks
@Jeff – Great to hear! And yes, the Greenhouse is being completely rebuilt and will be friendlier to iPad which is always a good thing. The front-end websites will also be fully optimized for an incredible viewing experience on iPhone, iPad, and other mobile devices and tablets.
Hey @Karen – We definitely throw around the idea of a mobile app to complement our Clover Sites product. For now, we’re focusing our efforts on building Clover Sites 3, and with the beautiful updates that will bring to the mobile and tablet experience, we’re confident that will meet a lot of the needs, but we’re always open to the idea and will probably revisit in the future. Hope that helps!
@Isaac – Thanks for the kind words! Glad you’re excited about it (we are too!)
@Nathan – don’t we wish! Hang in there as we work to bring this update to you. Glad you like how it looks so far!
Finally! After years of asking Sarah “When are you moving to HTML5″
Great work – can’t wait!
I’m looking forward to this new edition. The first thing I noticed was fonts — silly bit, but yay! I’m going to enjoy working with the new greenhouse stuff!
I can’t wait to upgrade! You guys are the best.
That first design looks amazing! We’re just about to sign up with Clover now, would we be able switchover to the new templates once available for no extra cost?
@Martin – That’s awesome to hear you’ll be joining the Clover family! Be sure to share your site with us once it’s live – we always love to see what our customers create! And yes, to answer your question, we will be giving every current customer the opportunity to upgrade to Clover Sites 3 at no extra cost once it’s released.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!! This just reminds me how awesome it is to have our website through Clover! You guys are amazing and v3 is really going to allow us to bring our website to soaring new heights! Thank you SO much for all your hard work…
Super excited about the upgrade! It sounds fantastic. Thanks!!
So looking forward to this! The list of new features helps with a lot of issues I’ve had the last couple years. Thanks for your quality work!
I freaking Love Clover!
This annoucement made our staff giddy with excitement. Keep up the good work, guys!
Very, very, very excited!!
Love it and cannot WAIT, although I guess I’ll have to. =D I just sent an e-mail about updating the photo section (now feeling stupid) haha. Thanks again for all you guys do! I’m letting our staff know the update is coming!
I love you.
Yeah! Can’t wait!
Staff member “Sean Coleman” is totally Ben. Is that an Easter Egg? Do I win something? #cloverswag
#unnecessaryhashtagging
Hey Anthony! Good lookin’ out! Email mary@cloversites.com with your shirt size and address and we’ll send you out a nice Clover t-shirt. #youwin
Really hope its not to too far off. WIth where we are headed we might need it sooner rather than later and dont really want to leave clover in order to fill our needs.
LOVE IT cant wait!!!
Haha, Anthony, I love that you found that. Jim had actually put that in his original design, and when I was making screenshots of it I didn’t feel like changing it
Hey Lis – I wish we could release it soon… But I do want to make it clear that it will be a ways off. If you need to a make a change before we release it, you should do whatever is best for your church. Obviously we’d love to keep you as a customer, but it means more to us that you take care of your church’s needs!
As I read the list of updates, I did a little happy dance for each one in succession. Can’t wait!
@Dave – Haha! Glad to hear you’re so pumped about it! Hopefully someone captured that moment for YouTube…
Love it! Can’t wait!
Very excited about this! Looking forward to changing things up, our site design has been the same for almost 3 years and have it on the list to change designs soon. LOVE the fact that you’ll be adding hidden pages- yay! Everything else looks awesome too, can’t wait
We are so excited! I had the same reaction as Dave
when you say a ways off, can you give a little more info? we’re just switching to clover and haven’t started the full design phase yet, should we wait for the enhanced version, or create the simple version and then update it?
Hey Jerry, it’s just honestly really hard to say at this point. Believe me, if we could give a better idea of timeframe we would! Our recommendation would be to take full advantage of all the great features we currently offer, make your site look awesome, and don’t wait for us! Then, once the new version is complete, you’ll have the opportunity to move to Clover Sites 3 for free, or stick with the site you created originally. Hope that helps a little.
That will be great! We love our site, but the image options on the front pages have been a struggle… trying “shrink down” to fit. Love the look of these new sites!
Can’t wait… don’t forget to include the ability on List Pages to choose to add new items to a list at the top, instead of the default of it autmatically adding at the bottom. My lists get long and it’s a pain to drag the newest to the top.
Thanks.
I have to give some critical feedback here. But before I do that, overall our experience with Clover has been great. Our site is better than it ever could have been without Clover at our stage as an organization, and no one but Clover seems to “get” that. I appreciate you guys.
However, as a company I’ve been pretty disappointed with your inability to estimate and hit release dates. It’s simply not professional. I know you had difficulty with this in the past and that is why there isn’t even an estimate at this point, but you’ve got to hear from some of us the frank feedback that this just isn’t acceptable. We don’t expect an exact date this far out, but you should be able to set a quarter and hit it. Many of us have administrative decisions to make based on this information, and as long time customers we just don’t understand how by this time you can’t estimate timelines better. That’s part of being a professional business, and it needs to become a part of yours.
This is great! Can’t wait for this to roll out. When is the roll out expected?
Like waiting for Christmas Day it’s hard to sleep with anticipation. Well done Clover as usual!
You under promise and over deliver every time.
So excited about this! Will all the features be available when everything is done or will some be available sooner as the “release date” gets closer?
Will there be any sort of blog integration built in the website? We would love a feature like that.
It seems to me to be somewhat vague as to what will be involved in moving a site from the current Flash based version to HTML5. Will we be able to simply port our present site to HTML5 or will we have to re-design the sight in the new Clover Sites 3? I guess another question to help clerify things is, will the current set of site templates be available in Clover Sites 3?
@Alan – We’re revisiting the way the various pages work so that’s something we’re definitely taking a look at. Great thoughts – thanks for sharing!
Love it. I’ll be switching seconds after it becomes available
Hi Adam, We’re still not ready to project a release date, but know we will keep you all updated as we continue through this process!
Hey Ben, since this is a complete rebuild of Clover Sites, it will be released once everything is completed. Thanks for the question!
Thanks guys and gals, We have been with cloversites for almost two years and love it we have been looking around and are very excited about the possibilities that are going to be available with the new design. Thanks again for the great work you do.
@Steve – Great to hear – thanks for being a part of the Clover family!
One feature we’d really like to see is the ability to feed/tie/feature our staff’s personal blogs into our clover site. Will that be a possibility in the new upgrade?
@ben,
The more i think of it….waiting for a product that is backed by the best customer service ive experienced is much more effective then finding alternatives that wont deliver the same product in the end. you CMS is superior to most and for that alone….my church will wait.
Love Clover Sites. So…when is the update and how do i get it?
This is so awesome, we’re so glad to be a part of cloversites and I recommend it to anyone looking to build a new website. You all have been such a blessing to our ministry and have made web design easy and fun.
Hi Nate! First off, we want to just say thanks for your kind words about your experience using Clover Sites, as well as your honesty and candid feedback. We definitely appreciate you expressing what you’re feeling and communicating that to us – it’s so important for us to get that. We can see how the lack of timeline can be a hinderance to your decision-making, and is a bit of frustration. As you probably know, we never want anyone to feel like they have to wait for us in our development process, and want you to be able to use what works for you and what your organization needs. That being said, it sounds like you want to stay with Clover so we wanted to answer this in the best way we can, so here’s some thoughts and a little more insight into our process.
Refraining from setting a firm timeline or even projecting a quarter deadline is not just something we’ve learned is the best approach for us given our previous experiences, but is also something philosophically, we think is the only way for us to go about developing our products. We have always created and released products that we feel 100% confident in, and believe will offer the best user experience to our customers. We’ve also built products that we feel are really new and completely unique, which makes them nearly impossible to estimate.
When we were creating Clover Donations, we ended up designing and building the donation form editor three times from scratch before we felt like it was actually right! If we had been forced to release the first version because of a deadline, we really think that the whole product would have suffered quite a bit. Because we don’t just recreate what others have done, we really try to understand our customers and what they need and what will be the easiest way for them to use features, and oftentimes that involves so much more work than we could ever anticipate. As you noted in your comment, “no one but Clover seems to ‘get’” it. That’s a huge compliment and actually is exactly why we do what we do, going through a much more arduous and detailed process as we create, agonizing over each feature and every element of the experience to make sure it is exactly the way it should be. While this is best for the end result (and one of the reasons our customers love us) it ultimately means that the process takes longer and is much more open-ended.
Apple is another well-known example of a company that usually takes this “release when it’s ready” approach. However, recently they did not, and it ended up being one of their biggest snafus to date, Apple Maps. While there were many great and innovative things about the new maps, and some of the design was arguably much more beautiful than the previous Google Maps, its real-world uses offered a very poor customer experience – one that was so bad Apple had to issue an apology!
So, while that’s a bit of a long response to your comment, hopefully it helps explain a bit of the heart behind why we do things the way we do. We do appreciate your patience as we build the next great version of Clover Sites, and we are serious when we say we can’t wait to get this into your hands. It just might be a while before it’s ready to meet you. If there’s anything else we can help you with, or if you do need to use something else before the next version is ready, just give us a call or send us an email. We’d be happy to help you any way we can. Thanks for reading!
Hi Bret – We’re not planning to build a blog feature into Clover Sites 3, but it should be easier than ever to link to, or otherwise tie-in your blog to your website.
Hey Jeff, moving to Clover Sites 3 will mainly involve selecting a new design (the new site designs will not be exactly the same as the current version – though some may look similar), and then adding all your content, changing colors, etc. Since the web has changed so much and the new version is a rebuild from the ground up, we won’t be able to directly port your existing site over once Clover Sites 3 is released. However, editing and designing your website will be just as easy and intuitive so it shouldn’t take long at all to create your new site if you decide to move to the new version and select a new design. Hope that helps!
Ryan – linking to and featuring your staff’s personal blogs on your website will be something you can do with Clover Sites 3.
Hey Russell, we just posted comments on these two questions – hope those answers help!
@Jordan – Thanks for the kind words!
Awesome. Thanks for the great work you guys do. God bless.
It is exciting that you all are coming out with a new version. We are new Clover Sites users. My wife and kids say I am technologically challenged and I would agree. However you folks have made website design intuitive and rewarding. Glad to hear the tablet and I-pad versions will look better, and the new feature to drop pictures in with your text. Congratulations and I will wait patiently, just keep me informed. Check out our new website from Clover at http://www.georgiasmallbusiness.org.
@Kevin – Awesome to hear, and your new site is looking great!
This is great and we can’t wait for it to come out! If we choose to take the free upgrade, will there be a way to transfer the information already on our current site, or will we have to manually transfer everything over?
@Mike – we answered this question in a previous reply, but to quickly summarize, there will not be an automatic transfer of data.
Our new Clover site is up and running! Check us out at http://www.lhousechurch.com Looking forward to the HTML5 version. We rely heavily on mobile usage as our church lobby is hosted by Greeters and Hosts all carrying tablets. Our collection of tablets is ad hoc, we’ve got everything; will HTML5 work on any kind of mobile device?
want. want. I want this.
seriously though. I purchased a cloversite for our church in 2009 and am glad I’ve stuck with them.
I want the features now, but seriously guys….
Take your time to make sure it’s right.
All the best.
Jonathan Kiedrowski
http://www.salemchurchnyc.org
@Another Mike – Looks great! And yes, Clover Sites 3 will work beautifully on any mobile device.
Thanks Jonathan! We’re happy to have you as part of the Clover family.
Is there going to be a blog functionality on the new Clover 3?
@Ross – no, we mentioned this in an earlier comment as well if you want to take a look at that for more info!
One more question, will Clover 3 allow mobile devices to access password protected pages?
@Another Mike – yes! Definitely. Thanks for the question.
We’re very much looking forward to this. One big request — please let us upload our MP3 podcast files without forcing them to be reprocessed. No reason for our mono podcast file to be reencoded at a higher bit rate and into stereo, that just makes the download slower.
@Eric – Thank you, the detailed response does help. I do understand where you’re coming from. I guess if anything hear that we need to know as much as you can tell us when you can tell us.
With the growth we’re having I’m hoping we can hold out to see what the Html5 change-over will bring. I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be better than the alternatives, but holding out that long might be hard.
So excited. We love Clover and have been so happy these last couple of years with you all. We are ready to upgrade our look, and this will deliver. Thank you all so much!!!
Yey !!!! to just about everything on the list for revamps…..the others I just didn’t know what they were
Are there plans for changing the calendar. I find it very cumbersome, and get quite a few complaints.
Can you tell us anything more about the ability to embed html code? Even to hear the hint of this is a dream come true. And, currently we are working on a project the becomes even more exciting with the hope of being able to embed it, even ever so slightly, into our cloversite. I’m not asking for any hard an fast promise here, just a teaser…
@Glenn – Great feedback! We’re pretty sure we can make this happen for Clover Sites 3. Thanks!
@Nate – Glad to help, and we’ll keep you posted on our process and progress as often as we can. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.
@Angie – we’re definitely looking at ways to continue improving the experience. Thanks for the feedback!
@David – We can’t say much more at this point about embedding HTML, but suffice to say, you will be able to use it for functions beyond simply embedding video. Hope that helps a little!
Awesome! Can you add a “tab” function to the editor? If a bulleted item takes up two lines, it’s impossible to justify line two with line one.
make sense?
Will we be able to have a calendar and form on the same page now (they are required to be separate currently)? This would be great!!
Hey Eric, thanks for the reply about the blogging feature. I agree there are many fantastic blogging platforms out there. I am a happy Clover customer and have no intention of shopping around for something else. I am not asking you guys to do something on the equivalent of wordpress or something like that, but to have a blog feature would be huge for a few reasons, one is that we wouldn’t have to have another website for that vehicle of communication and also, the big thing for me is that it would drive more traffic to our site which would help us in standing out among other sites. Even if it was something that was really simple, and had an RSS feed, I would be thrilled, I don’t need 57 font options and all that stuff, just something simple that would help drive more traffic to our site and to keep people updated. I’ve heard that the more fresh stuff there is on websites, the higher they show up in search queries and stuff like that. That is the one thing that I feel like a customized wordpress site has on Clover is that ability, besides that, I like Clover better, just something to think about if you haven’t already. Thanks for all you guys are doing, I”m sure its a beast of a project.
Hey Jeff, We’re definitely revisiting the text editor functionality, so that’s a great thought. Thanks for sharing!
@Dallas – great question. Most likely this will be possible given the way we’ll be handling pages and sections with Clover Sites 3. More to come on this in future blog posts!
@Ross – thanks for following up and for the kind words. Some great thoughts and definitely helps us understand the need better. Can’t promise anything at this point, but we are thinking through everything many times to land on what will be best for our customers, so we’ll keep this all in mind. Thanks again!
OHBOYOHBOYOHBOYOHBOY!!!
Okay, now that I’m breathing again, I will scroll back through the 101 comments to make sure I haven’t missed anything, but GOLLY this is pretty exciting.
@Annie – haha! We’re glad you’re so excited about it!
Ahh!! I’m so excited!! haha I’m a huge Clover fan! I run 4 different clover sites for different people and this has been a long anticipated update. I don’t care how much longer I have to wait, at least I know you guys won’t release something until it’s done right.
I do have a question though, if someone changes over to the new Clover and decides they don’t like it (Don’t know why they wouldn’t), will there be a way for them to switch back to the old style?
Great News! Any dates on when this might be ready? Thanks
Hi Josh, great to hear! And to answer your question, yes, if you were to upgrade to Clover Sites 3 and then decide you want to move back, there will be a way to reactivate the previous website.
@Vince – not yet, but we’ll keep you posted once we get closer.
You did say, “buttons”, didn’t you?? As in perhaps a merchant button that would direct one to a monetary vehicle that is clearly less desirable than CD, but the one my org kinda needs to use…perhaps? Oh please, please, please.
@Annie – it’s a possibility
We want our customers to be able to link to, and integrate other tools they use in ways that are easy and intuitive. Stay tuned as we continue creating.
I don’t see why anyone would use any other site creator! Clover, you ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve done 10 Cloversites now and talking to another potential client. Thanks for all the wonderful support through all these sites. And Luke is always very patient with helping this 57-year-old “print guy” through all the “take your site live” experiences. As Nacho Libre says…Clover, “it’s de baaaayeeeest!”.
I agree with Ross, a simple Cloverized version of any cool functionality (such as blogs) slickly implemented on one great well thought out platform is always welcomed. When the new platform is rolled out, I’ll be moving the school I’m on the board of to Cloversites as well. Keep up the good work.
@Johnny – Love it!
I am soooo excited about the upcoming changes!!!
Yay!!!! So excited! Can’t wait!
I am not a customer yet, I am just looking around, but have been interested in clover for a while now. I am not a tech geek either, but each time I use the Clover CMS it seems to be very simple and easy to use. I am still holding back but definitely and highly considering going with clover. The new HTML5 looks great as well.
EXCELLENT!!!
Thank you for all of your hard work!!!!!!
We’re excited about several of the changes. Hope you will give us more information on the following:
- Does the HTML5, additional fonts and enhanced editors mean we now have Unicode text? With our large ESL and multi-multicultureal community we really need this multi-lingual capability.
- Hope you’ll say some on the steps involved in transitioning to Clover Sites 3. Sounds like some reimplementation on our part will be required.
Please, please, please give us the ability to have onsite blogs. Please!!!
You could save yourself some stress by just saying that these are your goals for 2013.
Cloversites has resurrected our Web presence. Thank you for the simplicity. Keep up the great work. I do look forward to these upgrades. Thanks for the peek into the year!
Any new news about the upgrade and whether or not we’re getting closer to having it?
@Mark – For the expanded set of characters that you’ll be able to use, yes, that will be part of the new version. Also, as far as transitioning to Clover Sites 3, we’ll for sure have more info as that time gets closer, and once we launch.
@John – can’t make any promises here. It’s always been our philosophy that blogs are better as a distinct entity. That being said, we do have plans for ways to more easily link to, or tie in your blog page(s). Thanks!
Thanks Jerry! We’re excited about where we’re headed. Thanks for being a part of the family and coming along for the ride!
@Jacque – as Ben mentioned in the post, we’ve still got quite a ways to go til a release. We are doing our best to bring everyone into the process a bit more through our regular posts on the blog. Expect another update about what Clover Sites 3 will offer in just a couple weeks.
Love it!
Thanks for all you do. You have a quality product, great customer support, and continued innovation. That’s why Clover customers are so pleased to do business with you.
Keep it up!
How will we be notified when 3 is ready, I am helping out the church but I’m not on staff so my email isn’t tied to their account? I want to give them the heads up for the “secretary” you allude to in your walkthrough
Hey Seth, We’ll definitely be making a big announcement and getting the word out everywhere once the new version is ready! If you haven’t yet, subscribe to one of our email lists so you can get an update as soon as it’s ready. Also, following our twitter accounts (@CloverSites & @CloverDonations) and liking us on Facebook (just search for Clover Donation and Clover Sites) are great ways to get alerted to new content on our blog, as well as other important status updates, etc. Hope that helps!
@Eric – You’re really great at answering blog posts.
Greatly anticipating launch!!! We’ve been in talks about ditching clover for something more editable, so it’s great to see you are making progress. While I realize there is significant progress, it’s still hard to wait a whole lot longer only in hopes it will be soon. Looks like we aren’t alone! Keep up the good work
Looking forward to the upgrade. I hope the new slideshow concept will also help allow a user friendly slideshow on the home page – one where the user can go back and forth between slides and not need to wait for the slide that interested them to come around again.
Looks amazing. I have been a promoter of you guys for 5 years. Every church I’ve pastored in, and pastors that I come in contact with, I push clover. Looking forward to the clover3!!!
I really appreciate your including us in the upgrades. Takes a load off our plates.
Thanks!
@Charles – This is definitely a part of what we’re creating. We’re super excited about this feature of Clover Sites 3. We’ll probably be talking more about this in an upcoming blog post. Stay tuned!
@John – So awesome! Thanks for the kind words and for being such a huge fan of Clover. If you’re not already a part of our Clover Friends program, you should totally sign up and start earning checks for those referrals! Sign up here: http://www.cloversites.com/friends/
@Dot – You’re welcome! We’re enjoying getting to share our progress with you.
Hi
This sounds amazing! I know you are not setting a launch date, but we were planning to move away from clover at the start of this year because we were implementing something that required HTML embedding. So you can imagine my delight when I saw this post!
Is there a rough date? Like 6 months? Or 12 months? Just so we can make a decision.
Can’t wait!
How come Anthem and Cornerstone get so lucky? Any chance you have room for another test church to try out the new version before it goes live?
so excited about this update! Just reading the list of some of the new features gets me excited! Will forms still be a page type, or will we have the ability to add a form to any page?
@Shaheen – We might be reaching out to other customers to participate in testing as the launch time gets closer, depending on our needs. Thanks!
@Andrew – since we’re creating a way to add multiple sections to one page, you’ll be able to add different types of content on any page! So you’ll be able to add a media player and a form and whatever else you want all on the same page. We’re really excited about this. Stay tuned for future updates on Clover Sites 3 as we talk a little more about features in upcoming posts.
@Asha – Sorry, but we still can’t give out a date for this (even though you’re all very persistent in asking)! And if you need to move away from Clover Sites to meet your immediate needs we totally get it – no hard feelings
and we’ll be happy to welcome you back once Clover Sites 3 launches if you find it to be a good fit for your church at that time. Thanks!
Excited about Clover sites 3 – it looks like it will be great. Thank you for all your hard work in providing such wonderful and useful tools for the church.
I’d like to be a beta tester. Thx @eric.
really, really, really ready for the new Clover Sites 3.. we need mobile form capability… any projection on date?
Patiently waiting.
It all looks great. So much more professional. Anxious to use it – We’d LOVE to be another Test Site.
@Eric haha – sorry to be so so persistent. I just would love to stay on clover and need to persuade my boss!
thanks anyway!
@Dennis – no dates yet, but understand everyone’s looking forward to the new version. If you need help getting some forms up w/ mobile compatibility, get in touch with customer service. They can probably help you out with that. (805) 527-8900 or support@cloverdonations.com
@Asha – totally understand! And you’re welcome. Thanks for the questions!
Love Clover folks! Thanks for all of your hard work. You have many happy and patient clients out here. We know it will be great!
Very excited about all the changes in Clover Sites3! Someone mentioned wanting to be able to add list items st the top which I would also like to see, in addition to the same feature with photo albums. Keeping the most current photos at the beginning of the album means moving photos from the end with each addition! I would also love to see a search function!
To clarify a previous reply, current customers may switch to Site 3 free of charge but does that mean also switching to one of the new templates in Site 3?
Keep up the good work, Clover! You’re the best!
This makes me VERY happy! Thanks guys!!! One request… actually, I’m not sure if this qualifies as a “feature” but PLEASE make the new sites “SPELL CHECKER” friendly – PLEASE!!!
Wondering- since we have to port over all of our content when the new site is available, is the old one still in exiestince while we do that? So, can we copy and paste from the old one into the new one? Also, will it be possible to keep an OLD media player as an archive, with the content in tact after switching? We have over two years of sermons available online in our podcast/media page, and the cost and time to upload those again would not be easy nor fun.
Thanks for your time.
I also would weigh in and say that I think it would be incredibly helpful to offer a time in which you’d HOPE to release the new sites. While you cited Apple as an example of why not to, I can also think of several reasons that it is GOOD to just give an estimate… A hope… An idea of when it could be ready, explicitly saying it is not a deadline, but a hope. Frankly speaking, you are not Apple. Apple hardware users do not pay monthly for an iPod or an iPad hardware… They also don’t rely on an iPad or iPod to be the face of their ministry to the entire world. There is a lot more resting on a decision of a content and web provider than on what new toy is coming out next.
Thank you for all you do, and what you provide. It is a real blessing and it rocks! Looking forward to the new stuff.
Eric, thinking of you and the Clover team as you continue to press forward with the awesomeness that will be 3!
Regarding Forms, I would LOVE it if there could be a way to save or archive a custom Form that we use for annual functions, even create a template for future use. Perhaps that feature already exists, but I don’t see it.
ALSO, as a current work-around for hidden pages that I am developing, I “sacrificed” a section that I have labeled “Site Lab” with the pages in that section pass-word protected. (http://www.canaeast.com/#/site-lab) The main Site Lab page lets everyone know that this is where I mess around with new pages and features and provides a contact link for folks to share suggestions for new features and pages. The point being, I can design and edit to my heart’s content, publish changes to see how things would look live, and still keep things under wraps. Yes, I sacrifice a section to do this, but it is way worth it to me while providing the added bonus that I get to think I am ridiculously clever. Is this kinda how you think “hidden pages” will work in 3?
So excited about all of these changes. Thank you for all of your hard work!
@Mary – Great thoughts, thanks for sharing! And yes, existing customers who move to Clover Sites 3 will also select a new site design. Hope that helps.
@Jeff – Awesome! And Clover Sites 3 will be spell checker friendly – very similar to how it works in Clover Donations.
@Greg – Great questions. We’re still working out all the details with the moving process, but we’re definitely going to provide an easy way to automatically move over some of the really important and time consuming things – like the media player you mentioned! More details will be coming as we get closer to launching.
And we appreciate your thoughts in regards to the timelines. As Ben mentioned in the post, we’re just still quite a ways from launching. We completely understand the needs of growing ministries and are doing our best to provide more regular updates so you can stay up to date with our progress. However, at this time and the part of the process we’re in, it just doesn’t make sense to give any sort of timeline as of yet.
Thanks Annie!
The ability to save a form template is not something we offer currently, but it’s something we’ve thought about for the future. And thanks for sharing the way you work with hidden pages to create and experiment! It is pretty clever
And as far as Clover Sites 3, the hidden pages will work a bit differently to offer some greater flexibility.
I am ready! How is the process going? Getting close?
@Cody – still have a ways to go
Glad you’re excited about it!
Thank y’all for all of the hard work y’all put into making the BEST product available! We have used Clover for 4 years now and we LOVE it. It is user friendly and just keeps getting better.
It would be AWESOME if I could change the page type once a page is created, i.e. If I have just a normal web page and want to add a form to it I would love to just be able to click, change page type and add a form. Also, if we could add multiple forms to one page.
Scrolling page, would love to see thumbnails for easy scroll back on the scrolling features.
Clover Donations:
Is there a way for our contributors to go back and view their previous donations. I haven’t seen a way to do it. Added customization: we are having a women’s retreat at our church and we would really love to be able to let folks pay through clover donations but y’all don’t offer effective options for letting us change form questions. Maybe this is not what y’all are thinking clover donations will be used for but we would love it b/c well y’all are awesome and we want to support you!
Seriously thanks for all y’all do. Our church loved Clover! My prayers are with all of you as you faithfully create the art that is Clover!
When you say a “ways to go” is there any chance you could give a more general answer? I know you don’t want to rush it or put a time stamp on it. But something a little more specific would benefit us so we have a general idea. i.e. 6-8 months, 12-16 months.
Hi Amy! Thanks for the kind words and prayers
so great to hear about your experience!
We’re creating Clover Sites 3 to be able to support multiple types of content on one page, (for example, you could include a form, media player, and text section all on one page) with ways to easily change and remove content whenever you like. Also, you may be seeing some news about that for Clover Donations very soon…
stay tuned.
Using Clover Donations for event registrations is something many of our customers are doing already! It’s a great way to make registration easier and let people pay online. Here’s just a couple examples of how others are doing it, using funds, set amounts, etc: https://restorationlife.cloverdonations.com/womens-retreat-2013/ and https://lifechurchnorwood.cloverdonations.com/rootedwomensretreat/ . If you have questions about it, or want to have us help you set up a form for this, just give us a call at (805) 527-8900. We’d be more than happy to walk you through it!
@Matt – unfortunately no, not at this point. Stay tuned for more on this in an upcoming blog post.
Looking forward to Clover Sites 3. Would be very interested in being a “Beta Tester” if/when the time comes. I personally own a web design/hosting company on the side so would be in a position to do a lot of testing & feedback.
Thanks guys!
Thank you!
Y’all rock!
Great job done by your guys. I`m excited about all of these changes
Thank you for your responses to the questions. It is really helpful!
@Greg – Awesome! Glad to hear it.
AAAaaaaahhhhhhhhhhHHHHH YYYYYEEEEaaaaAAAAA!!!!
Love me some Clover!
Excellent. Looking forward to the changes!
What advancements are you planning on the new media player? It would be great if you could have the option on each title [message] to play audio or video. Instead of uploading two different titles.
Hey Nick, we’ll have a blog post in the future about the new media player that should help answer some of your questions. Thanks!
I am VERY excited about this!! We had been thinking of switching websites because of the limited layouts but this made my decision! We’ll be staying with Clover – we love all the features and the ease of use and now I LOVE the new features!
Can’t wait!!!
Great to hear. And thanks for your continued patience as we work on bringing this awesome update to you!
I was considering a wordpress website for my small business, but after hearing what you are planning with Clover Sites 3, I think that’s good enough for me to sign on. One question though, how searchable in google will the new sites be?
@Mark – Clover Sites 3 will be completely searchable by Google (in other words – great for SEO!). Hope that helps.
Love the great job you guys are doing to make this great site hosting even better! Are you guys able to make away for the forms on our sites to be filled out on smartphones and iPads? We have gone to paperless sign up’s at our church and have a “kiosk” for signs up’s through our website. Sometimes we have a line of people wanting to sign up but leave do to the wait. I tired letting someone use my iPad, but was told it needed to be done on a desktop. It would be great to have them able to do it from their phone or iPad, chances of them doing it when they get home get real smaller. Thanks!
Soooooo… we’ve been hearing about the html 5 upgrade for nearly a year now. When can we expect it? I hate to seem impatient, but with more and more users accessing sites w/ mobile devices, flash forms for contact and registration are useless. Others already offer it. How long to I wait and miss these potential contacts?
@Josh – Thanks! The forms feature for Clover Sites 3 will be optimized for mobile devices. For now, if you need to, we can help with recommending a third-party form solution for those forms you need to be accessible on other devices. Just give us a call!
@Dennis – The update is still in the works and no timeline as of yet. We definitely understand your need to accept signups from other devices. Give us a call and we can help you out: (805) 527-8900
Big request from people is to allow the ability to skip through a video message. Currently you have to wait till the entire video loads up. Will this be possible?
Let’s dream for a second! A great feature would be to import chapters and allow the player to skip through the video. It’d be magical.
@Ryan – Great thoughts! we’re definitely going to have some nice updates to the media player. Stay tuned…
