Clover Donations: Pricing Update

Hey everyone-

Thanks for all your comments on our last post. We’re glad so many of you are as excited as we are about our new product, Clover Donations. We genuinely think this thing is going to be such a great tool for you and your organizations, and we’re working as hard as we can to bust this new product out.

Along with all the encouraging comments on the post, we received a handful of questions about pricing. Instead of answering each of the questions one-by-one, we thought it would be better (and faster) to chat openly about the pricing via video. Check it out:

Let us know if you have any more questions about pricing. As always, feel free to email us or even leave your questions on this post. And be sure to check out cloverdonations.com for more updates.

Update:
As of 11/16, we’ve answered each of your questions surrounding Clover Donations in a new blog post. Hope it helps!

So, we were excited about the other set up so this is great! Thank you for working so hard we look forward to using this product!

Thanks for the clarification guys. Since you guys are working out a merchant structure for donations, will we be able to integrate it with forms so that we can do a pay event, like a retreat or conference and handle it all through Clover? That would be amazing!!

So, just to clarify: there will be no $10 monthly fee? It’s just going to be the 3.5% $0.40 transaction? This could be really, really good!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the update. And maybe I’m a bit dense, but I was wondering if you might be willing to just give a little breakdown for us? Because I hear you guys talking about two separate percentages and I’m a bit confused.

For example, can you just tell us what would happen to a transaction that was done from an online donor for lets say, $100.

How much does the church end up with at the end of the day?

Hoping I’m not asking for too much, but sometimes I just need stuff spelled out for me.

Thanks!

We’re super pumped about here at Good News. We can’t wait for it to come out…thank you so much for doing the hard work of making a beautiful, seemless product.

Hey Drew,

Yes, definitely. The Clover Donation tool will be more specifically designed for online giving, but you will be able to work it out for events as well! It may be a bit of a workaround in the beginning, but hopefully it will become more and more seamless with future additions and updates!

Hey guys, great questions. We will be posting the specific details very soon. The reason that it’s not as clear as before is that the rate for each individual transaction will change based a number of factors, such as if a donor uses a rewards card or not. That’s really the tradeoff with the new pricing we’ve worked out. There’s no simple, flat rate that’s easy to explain. But overall it will be significantly less expensive than if you had a flat rate.

As soon as we can, we’ll do a breakdown of what happens to a $100 donation.

Hey David,

Happy to say the 3.5% and 40 cents transaction fee has dropped since we first announced! We’re still nailing down some of the specifics, but we’ll be sure to give you more pricing details soon.

Will your donation site be PCI certified? Will you be giving us the option to setup event and product pricing through a form? Will there be functions to add product s and event costs, like 3 Sm Tee Shirts @ $12.50 each for a total of $37.50?

Melany said on November 14th, 2011:

Will there be an option for the person making the donation to pay the fee? That is how it was at my college and would be great for us as a church that way we would not have to “budget” money for the fees. Thanks!

Hey guys! Super excited about cloverdonations. We currently use a paypal system. Something I don’t like is the % is tacked on to the giver amount. So, if someone gives online $100, that person is actually charged $103. Will the percentage structure through cloverdonations work in the same way? I would much rather the institution absorb the percentage rather than the giver. So if someone gives $100, they are only charged $100. The gift would then end up being more like $97. Any clarity would be great. Thanks!

Jeff said on November 16th, 2011:

Hi guys,
Eagerly awaiting details in writing of what you’ll be offering. Not so happy with our current vendor and looking for a more cost effective way to receive online gifts (and to automate repeat gifts).

Steve said on November 16th, 2011:

Will a church/organization be able to NOT have credit cards as an option for donations?

I’m a little bummed about the delay (we’re ready to sign up and ready to have online donations now), but thank you for being so clear and open about what is going on. We have put the application process on hold with another company trusting that the wait will be worth it.

I guess noones mentioned this … So I’ll bite! Your blog set up/template is awesome! Is there we can have a blog set up like this too?! For our church ministries ?!? Please let me know

Thanks

Presented well…both times. From the start I understood the process of development and pricing. This video was super clear. I can relate to the explanation about the initial development cost to you and how long it will take you to recoup your investment.
Simply, I look forward to it. Good job.

Hey Ben,

Absolutely! We actually are using WordPress for our blog. We definitely would recommend them to you!
