Social Links On Your Clover Site
We know this feature was a bit under the radar, but we’re excited to get this new way of connecting your Clover website to your various forms of social media into your hands.
This is a feature we know a lot of you have been wanting for a while now, and have even been using some full pages and even logo space to point people towards your social media presence. But not anymore… Introducing our new “Social Links” feature!
This feature allows you to have a section on your website dedicated to providing links to your various forms of social media. They are located in different places in each of the different site designs… Below is an example of social links on the “Neue” site design.

To add this feature to your Clover site, go to your Greenhouse Dashboard and go to the “Site Settings” tab and you’ll see a button titled “Social Links”. You can add this new feature to your site here.
I created a quick walkthrough video highlighting this new feature. Check it out if you’d like:
We give you the ability in your Greenhouse Dashboard to not only customize the location these links point to, but even choose from a wide variety of icons and customize the directions you give your visitor when they rollover your icon.

The most common uses are pointing your visitors to your Facebook page, Twitter account, or other social media profiles. The feature will work great for that, but it can also be used for a ton of other things too… Here are some other (more creative) ways of using this new feature:
Link to any type of page on any social network. For example, you can link to your Facebook photos instead of your Facebook wall. You basically have the ability to link to any public URL you can find… So get creative!
Link to an email address by simply entering it in the URL field. Here’s how: Choose “Other” as the service, enter the email address in the url field, and then make the title something like “Contact Us”. You can use any icon you’d like, although the mail envelope might be the most appropriate…
Consider linking to the html/mobile version of your site and using the “accessibility” icon (the man in the circle). The url is just your website address with “?view=mobile” tacked onto the end.
Just some extra ideas with this new feature. Be sure to let us know if you have any questions. Enjoy!

Awesome Guys! This is great. Would love it if the icon/logo for The Table Project would make it onto the available icons list:) http://tableproject.org/
Being a social networking klutz, the extra ideas and tweaks for this feature are very helpful & much appreciated…
Greatly appreciate this feature. Unfortunately, I wish there was a way to move it to where people who visit our site can see it quickly. It’s located at the bottom of our page.
Thanks Patrick. Glad you like the feature!
We’ll keep an eye on requests going forward if that’s cool, but for now we’ll wait on adding additional icons.
Yea, the Social Media Feature is a fixed placement, but feel free to continue to use other areas of your site if you prefer! CC, for you guys, Rock Point is perfect for this if you’d prefer the top.
Thanks so much! Love that this is available now
this is a great new feature! how long before the photos page format is ready?
Hey Mike.
Almost there! We’re very close so keep your eyes out for the announcement.
LOVE the social linking – but I’m with CC – really don’t like that we can’t put them on the top of our site. Unfortunately ours is stuck at the bottom due to the template restrictions.
Forms, favicon, and now the social media icons…you guys are making me happy!
I hate to ask…but has there been any thought into allowing us to create a custom url for a page? For instance instead of taylorroad.org/home/vbs it could be just taylorroad.org/vbs?
Keep up the great work!
Hey Brian,
We’ve thought about that one a lot. Not at all sure when, but its possible you’ll see it at some point down the road!
We used the list page update to put all our media stuff. http://www.pacificpointechurch.com/#/media/follow-us-on-the-web
It looks really clean.
Nice work Mark. That a great use of the List Page!
Great feature would love to see a live feed for facebook or twitter available on the site.
I saw that someone posted a question as to when the photos page format will be ready….is that like a photo gallery feature? I hope so…we have been really waiting for that feature! Please clarify. Thanks!
Wish you guys could add an icon for The Vine social media platform for churches. Or allow us to create our own.
Thanks a million!
This is great! Is it possible to move the links to the same side as the menu for “The Stone” design? The link almost disappears at its current location at the bottom of the page
To answer a few of your questions . . .
- We don’t have plans to add RSS feeds for Facebook and Twitter. Hopefully the link will be a good resource in the absence of this!
- Yes, Photo Gallery and Photo Page are the same in one. Coming very, very soon!
- And lastly, the new Social Media icons are embedded as a part of each design. If you’d rather stick with using graphics as links, or even using the List Page, feel free! We know sometimes that flexibility is nice.
Thanks guys! Enjoy the new features:)
HOMERUN!!! Thanks Team Clover!
Hey Paul, we’d love to be able to do this someday! Thanks for the suggestion.
just a simple thanks to you guys for always, always being on top of your game. seriously man, yall could be putting existing customers on cruise control, but you continually roll out new, fresh awesomeness.
Because the social media links do not show up on the mobile platform, full pages and even logo space to point people toward my social media presence is still necessary on the website.
Any chance the social media links can appear on the mobile platform?
thanks
Hey Scott.
Yes! We agree with you on this one and really hope to do this at some point down the road.
SICK! Well done, love the look. Thanks guys.
Social Media Feature Request: have the ability to display the tweets of a twitter account or multiple accounts. Also have the ability to display RSS feeds from blogs/other content. Thanks!
Hey Brandon.
We’ve talked quite a bit about RSS around here, but it isn’t something we have any sure plans about. It is on the list of possibilities though!
Love the new social media options!
Question:
Does clover have multiple social network accounts on different pages i.e. for youth and young adults?
Any chance of getting some additional icons? Maybe even a custom color palate? Ideas: cog wheel, key, Google+, plain sphere, or maybe even a place to upload custom icons. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Hey Jared,
We’d definitely like to add some additional icons at some point, especially with things that really catch on (like Google+ might). Maybe you’ll see custom ones too! This is definitely on the list of considerations.
Thanks for the idea -
Hey Micah,
The Social Media options are a site level decision, but you could definitely add some additional ones to your youth page if you like! Feel free to use the image areas to place your linkable icons! A great to add in Facebook (or a youth Facebook link), or other icons to a specific page of your site.
Lots of churches now are setting up social media communities on sites like The City and The Table Project. Would love to see icons for these added as an option.
Hey Kendall.
I’ve definitely passed this on to our developers. At some point we very well may add additional icons, so keep your eyes on the blog for a post about this!
Thanks for the suggestion -
I too would LOVE to be able to move the social media icons anywhere on my page. For example, in the Venture Church design, they are stuck on the bottom left of the page, but would be far more noticeable at the top right!
Thanks! A couple of quick suggestions, though:
“Share” buttons for the media player. Social media goes both ways, we need to both point people to our page and allow them to share our content on an ongoing basis.
Custom Colors. Our background is Charcoal, and the FB/Twitter icons show up as black. Can’t see ‘em! Can’t change the color!
Custom Icons: Rather than you guys having to create new icons on request, why not allow a ‘custom’ icon upload conforming to certain format standards? Put the oness on us?
Hey Jay, (and Benjamin too)! Thanks for the great suggestions. We like these ideas too!
No immediate plans for these, but we will definitely put them on the list of things to consider down the road.
Love the social networking links! Would also like to echo the suggestion that it would be great to have Twitter and RSS feeds on the site.
Google just released Google+ pages. Any chance of getting a social icon for it? Please let me know. Thanks!
Hey Jared,
Yes! Keep your eyes on the blog and we’ll keep you posted once we have it ready! Thanks for the suggestion ~
