New Green Thumb: The Samaritan Center
The Samaritan Center is community based non-profit organization that reaches out specifically to the homeless population. The site that they have created with Clover effectively portrays their involvement in the community, the programs they offer as well as testimonials from those that have received help from The Samaritan Center. We particularly like how raw the photos are. Showing real people receiving real help. The Samaritan Center has invested the time and effort of taking genuine pictures of people that they help which gives the site a certain level of ‘humanness’.

How did they have a full screen picture with text in front? Is that the Collective design, or can we do that on any of them? (Building my site still … so trying to figure all this out!)

Creating a picture with text on top of it is not something that can be done inside the Greenhouse, however with some simple software you can do this! There are many options for creating a photo like the one pictured above and here are a few tools that you can try out, purchase or download:
Aviary
Pixelmator – Mac Users Only
Picasa
… even Microsoft Paint is a great tool for getting the job done.
