The iPad (and whatever well-designed tablets come next) are a replacement for laptops, and quite possibly desktops, too. They're the beautiful, fast and intuitive version of netbooks. Wired magazine has a great article about tablets this month. Ironcally it's not on wired.com, but it's worth picking up the physical version if you're interested in the debate. Third-party applications for doing music, games, newsprints and magazine and books, tons of cool stuff, but IMHO they just didn't really sell it properly (aside from the books).
