TwitterGoogle

Google has released a new search engine tier aptly named “Google Goggles” which can now display real time data like Twitter feeds and Facebook updates. Incredibly informative or incredibly annoying?  Read more here.

The linked article also speaks about near-real-time translation into the major languages of the world.

Since church planting is “international” at its heart, would Clover consider leveraging something like this to enhance our sites instantaneously to help ministries cross the language barriers they might encounter?

Instead of having 2 or 3 different sites or pages in different languages, it would be great to have a site that could be ‘goggled’ as the content is loaded.

a rough idea… but there’s only one Spirit that can overcome Babel.

one more thought-question…

any thoughts on building a Twitter +/ Facebook feed option into our sites?
possibly for Greenhouse 2.0.5 ?

maybe a page where we could insert the feed and a way to style its appearance…

thanks. I’m sure you’ve already thought of these things and have a ton of stuff to finish before getting to the newer ideas on the wishlist.

@pastore If you are wanting to translate a Clover site, you can use this awesome tool from Google: translate.google.com

You just type in the web address for any Clover site and add this string at the end (ex. cloversites.com/?showHTML=1) to display the HTML version.

Also, we have been talking about incorporating this communal aspect for our users, as we see the integration of social networking . As always thanks for the excellent feedback.

Pretty sure the “Google Goggles” part is the name for the visual search capabilities via Android, not the real-time feed. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhgfz0zPmH4)

Although that said, Goggles looks dang amazing. I’ve been waiting for this.

As for real-time, this is important stuff I think, but they need to display the information differently than search results… showing trends and waves.

Merry Christmas! (waiting for the turkey to cook…)

@Chris Ridgeway Oops, you’re right – it looks like Google Goggles is the mobile search app on Android. I’m not sure if the twitter results are called anything, but they seem to be referred to as ‘real-time results’.

… and thanks for the info Chris.
