40 WordPress Themes

I know a lot of you have blogs that correspond with your ministry’s website. Our favorite platform for blogging is by far WordPress. Some people get a little carried away and make WordPress blogging templates their actual website… Blogging works best when partnered with a main, foundational website. It’s a great way to cross promote your ministry. More links = more love.

I ran across this great list of WordPress templates this morning while on Smashing Magazine. Check them out. Some of them are kinda lame or niched to a specific industry, but there are some great ones out there.

Remember- some of these templates probably require you to have some understanding of code and programming to get it exactly how you like. They’re probably free to download, but getting everything exactly how you like it (especially if you’re a picky designer) might take a bit of work. You can pay some cash to have someone make it perfect for you, or if you’re a designer and you want to design it yourself, you can use PSD2HTML.com and have them chop it up and “WordPress it” for you for a minimal fee. We are actually in the process of redesigning our blog as I write…

One last warning, though. As we’ve written time and time again: Use tools for what they were created for. Even though you can dig a hole in your backyard to plant a flower with the back side of a hammer (the preferred use of a hammer by my wife), a hammer was created to pound stuff- not dig. Blogging templates were created for blogging. So check these templates out, and blog away!
