Speaking of Clover.

Mobile Version Launched!

It’s been in the works for a couple of months now, but we finally launched our new mobile feature today. What this means is that if you are a part of the Clover family and own a Clover website, your website is now viewable via mobile browsers. Let me correct that… Not just viewable, but BEAUTIFULLY viewable by mobile browsers. So whether you are on an iPhone, Blackberry, Palm Pre, Q, Saga, or any other mobile phone with a browser, you will be able to easily navigate your Clover website, view calendar events, and even listen to messages. If you have an iPhone, people will also be able to watch the videos you post online.

There’s some pretty amazing implications with this new feature:

1. The page navigation is optimized for cell phone browsers.

You can have confidence that users will be able to read and navigate everything on your site, not only when they’re sitting in front of a computer. Most websites look like trash on a cell phone browser… With the web changing, your website NEEDS to be viewable via mobile browsers.

2. You are one of the very few people with a Flash site that also works perfectly on mobile devices.

One of the big problems techies have with Flash is that most mobile browsers don’t show it yet. (Flash is the technology Clover websites were built on… For a number of great reasons). Well, once again Clover has changed all that. You now get a motion-enhanced, beautiful, easy-to-navigate, SEO friendly website for those browsers with Flash enabled, and a beautiful, easy-to-navigate, SEO friendly website for those that don’t. This new feature gives you the best of both worlds.

3. Your HTML version looks nice and pretty now for the <1% of people who don’t have Flash.

If that doesn’t make any sense to you, no worries- just be assured that your site is doing everything it needs to. If you want to read more, check out this post.

4. Your messages are now available to listen to or watch on the go.

For people in your congregations who commute, they have the ability to listen to or watch your messages via their phone. (This feature works with the newest phones like the iPhone, the Pre, and some Blackberries, but might not work with all other phones).

5. Clover gives you another way for your ministry to reach the world for Christ.

We’re really excited about this feature, and we think you should be too. You are on the cutting edge… Live it up. If you aren’t a member of the Clover family just yet, be sure to see what all the hype is about and demo it today.

Oh yeah- the best part is that this new technology is COMPLETELY free to all Clover users. That’s just how we roll. Enjoy!

Thank you for the innovation! looks great on my Blackberry curve. Could not stream a sermon but I could download it. We cant wait for greenhouse 2.0. Thank you for making reaching others so easy.

SWEET! Guys this is great. I noticed that some of the pages seemed to load better than others visually (like stacking images in unusual ways and super light gray text on a white background -hard to read). Do you have any suggestions on ways to “optimize” our sites so that the mobile view is as solid as it can be?

Hey Jeff – That’s weird… I checked out your site and it looks really nice on my phone. We’re definitely going to watch for color combos that we missed and fix things as fast as possible in the next few days. If you want to get in contact with us directly at support@cloversites.com, we’ll do our best to help make your site perfect.

Also, in the future with the Greenhouse 2.0, you will be able to choose colors directly for your calendars and sermon players!

Oh yeah, Philip, you brought up a good point. Some phones don’t stream audio from the web, but the vast majority of them should at least be able to download and play them. Not to knock your phone, but I don’t get the impression that Blackberry is taking the mobile web seriously yet. (Although I guess I shouldn’t be too hard on them since I never took it seriously until I got an iPhone).

I am so impressed – it is awesome! I have an iphone and our site looks amazing. We have one church member with a palm treo that said that he can’t see the menus on the bottom. They are there while the page is loading, but when the page fully loads the menu options go away. I thought I’d let you know.

Our church is new to our Clover Site…but it is AMAZING. And this mobile platform just takes us to another level. Ridiculously easy, modern, cutting edge, powerful…I could go on.

Thank you so much for making a website for churches that is not just functional, but excellent.
