Speaking of Clover.

Clover’s 1 Year Birthday

I’m sure you guys all had it marked in your calendars already, but in case you haven’t heard, it’s Clover’s 1 year anniversary!  A year ago on May 15th, we launched to the world and it’s been remarkable to see the response.

We celebrated in the office with some ice cream cake.  Apparently it’s hard to make one on short notice, so we had to take the design into our own hands.  We might just go into the cake business next.

On a cooler note, though, we decided that giving some presents on our birthday would be a great way to bless others through what God’s provided for us.

They don’t know it yet, but we’re sending a $1,000 check to Nathanael and Kristin at Choose to Invest.  We met them at Catalyst last year and have been consistently impressed by their heart and their ministry.

We’re also sending $4,000 to a ministry that probably no one has heard of. It’s a longer story than this blog post will give justice to, but basically there has been extreme persecution to Christians in rural villages in Orissa, India. Thousands of believers fled their villages after their families were killed and they are currently living as refugees in the jungle, with no home to return to. Most of them are in the lowest caste and so there aren’t many others who are willing to help or minister to them.

There is a small group of churches in Orissa that is doing their best to provide for the refugees’ short term needs, as well prepare for ongoing ministry. Through some genuine guys we met recently, we’re able to get money to the Indian churches, and our support should be able to build shelter for ten families during the upcoming monsoon season.

It’s been humbling us to remember that our brothers and sisters are living in the jungle, and we’re so happy to be able to help them. And obviously it wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for everyone who has bought a Clover site in the last year. Here’s to another great year.

Wow, that’s really cool to know, Beth. I had never heard of the area before… it’s always encouraging to know that God is working in many ways all over the earth!
